Voting and OmniGauge

One Market. One Vote. Every Chain.

The Voting System allows veNAMI holders to decide every epoch how NAMI emissions are directed, and to participate in the voting rewards generated by markets across the ecosystem.

This is made possible by OmniGauge, Nami's proprietary technology that brings all pools belonging to the same market together under a single vote across supported blockchains.

Each OmniGauge concentrates the rewards generated by the different pools of a market into a single voting decision, extending the reach of voting power across the entire multichain ecosystem.

How the Voting System Works

Each veNAMI position has voting power that can be used every epoch to vote on NAMI emission allocation.

Users can distribute their voting power across one or more markets.

Multichain MarketVoting Power
BTC / USD30%
ETH / USD25%
BTC / ETH20%
STOCKS / USD15%
MEME / USD10%
Example allocation for illustration only, not actual protocol data.

The total weight received by each market determines the relative share of NAMI emissions allocated to its liquidity providers in the following epoch.

In return for voting, users earn a proportional share of the swap fees and voting incentives associated with the pools their voting power is allocated to.

OmniGauge

In traditional ve(3,3) models, each gauge corresponds to a single pool and each pool operates on its own chain.

When the same market exists across multiple blockchains or through different assets, voting power becomes fragmented across separate gauges: pools representing the same economic exposure compete for the same votes.

OmniGauge changes the level at which voting takes place.

Instead of voting for a single pool, users vote for the economic market.

Voting becomes multichain: it can be performed from any supported chain and reach every pool that forms the market, wherever they operate.

At the same time, a single vote allows users to receive their share of rewards from all pools belonging to that OmniGauge, regardless of the chain they operate on.

One Market. One Vote. Every Chain.

Voting power allocated to the market is automatically distributed across the pools that form the OmniGauge, prioritizing those generating higher swap fees.

Nami calculates the default allocation, while users retain the ability to modify it by adjusting the individual subgauges.

An economic market such as BTC/USD brings together pools based on different assets and distributed across multiple blockchains:

ROBINHOOD

Voting Rewards
User → Vote → OmniGauge, BTC / USD Market → Ethereum WBTC/USDC, Base cbBTC/USDC, Robinhood cbBTC/USDG → Voting Rewards → back to User.

This allows a single vote to allocate voting power toward the most productive pools within a market and access rewards generated across the entire multichain ecosystem.

Simple Gauge

When a pool represents a market that is unique in both asset and blockchain, Nami uses a Simple Gauge.

This follows the traditional ve(3,3) model: one gauge corresponds directly to one pool, and voting power is assigned without additional aggregation layers.

User
Vote
XYZ / USD
BASE
XYZ/USDC
Voting Rewards
User → Vote → Simple Gauge, XYZ / USD → Base XYZ/USDC → Voting Rewards → back to User.

Simple Gauge and OmniGauge are part of the same Voting System.

Simple Gauge maintains the direct model for pools with no equivalents to aggregate, while OmniGauge brings multiple pools representing the same economic market together under a single vote.

Voting Rewards

Voting allows veNAMI holders to participate in the value generated by the liquidity they support.

Voting rewards can include:

  • Swap fees generated by the pools
  • Voting incentives deposited to attract voting power

With a Simple Gauge, rewards come from the single pool being voted on.

With OmniGauge, the same vote can earn rewards from multiple pools across multiple blockchains simultaneously.

Nami presents rewards in a unified market-level view while keeping the originating chain and pool visible.

With manual voting, rewards must be claimed on the respective chains where they were generated.

Infinite positions can use Voting Automations and Strategies to automate voting, claims, and reward management.

Epoch Cycle

The Voting System operates through 7-day epochs, from Thursday at 00:00 UTC to the following Thursday at the same time.

Each epoch is divided into three phases:

PhasePeriodAction
Voting PeriodThursday 00:00 - Wednesday 23:00 UTCUsers can vote and edit their vote allocation
BlackoutWednesday 23:00 - Thursday 00:00 UTCPublic voting is suspended for end-of-epoch administrative operations, including Nami Relayer execution and protocol verify allocations, rewards, and system state.

At 00:00 UTC, the epoch ends and the next one begins.

How Emissions Are Allocated

Voting determines how the share of NAMI emissions allocated to liquidity providers is distributed across ecosystem pools in the following epoch.

Each vote is recorded on the chain where the veNAMI position resides, but it can direct voting power toward pools on any supported chain.

The allocation already identifies the destination chain and pool, allowing votes from across the ecosystem to converge into a single result.

At the end of the epoch, votes are consolidated on the hub to determine the final weight of each pool.

These weights define the share of NAMI emissions each pool receives in the following epoch and their corresponding distribution across chains.

The Voting Loop

Voting directly connects emissions, liquidity, and economic activity.

Voting Rewards
Votes → Emissions → Liquidity → Volume → Fees → Voting Rewards → back to Votes.

Markets that attract more voting power receive a larger share of emissions, incentivizing additional liquidity.

Deeper liquidity can support greater volume, generate more swap fees, and increase the economic value available to voters in subsequent epochs.
